April 28th was the annual World Health & Safety Day.

The event raises awareness of accidents in the workplace and aims to prevent diseases and general workplace accidents worldwide.

The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a management system set up to create a safer and healthier working environment, protecting the general public who may be affected by the occupational environment.

With over 2.78 million workers globally dying due to workplace-related accidents and diseases, this is a real issue that the World Health & Safety Day helps raise a political position for improved safety measures.

Most of us spend up to 40 hours a week at our workplace, and with overtime, sometimes even more! The chances of having an accident in the workplace are high because it's where we spend most of our time.

If you work in an office, then the chances of accidents are lower than if you worked in a factory or on a building site where heavy machinery, falling debris and more, raise the level of accidents occurring daily.

Nevertheless, to be a part of the World Health & Safety Day, firstly, make sure you're up to date with your own workplace's safety regulations to adhere to them and know what to do in the event of an accident.

Being vocal on social channels, attending events, or online webinars can help raise the awareness of World Health & Safety Day and allow you to help do your part in raising awareness.
