Oh my Gourd!

Pumpkin Patch Field

Wearing a high-visibility (hi-vis) orange vest in a pumpkin patch is the epitome of irony.

Imagine, there you are, surrounded by acres of plump, orange pumpkins, each blending beautifully into the autumnal scenery, and you decide to wear a vest designed to help you stand out. It's almost as if you're trying to compete with the pumpkins for attention — as though, in the sea of gourds, the one thing that needs to be highly visible is you.

Of course, there’s a certain logic to it. With tractors and hayrides rolling by and the occasional overenthusiastic pumpkin picker wielding a cart, safety is paramount.

But does the vest really make a difference when everything else around you is also orange?

Perhaps it's more of a statement. The irony of wearing safety gear in the safest of settings — a peaceful pumpkin patch — says something about our modern obsession with precaution. While everyone else is blending into the festive scenery, you're the beacon of caution, a walking paradox of safety amid serene farmland. In the end, the hi-vis vest might just be the perfect accessory — for both keeping you safe and keeping things interesting.
