We took a break from our article series last week as we introduced the Kingford High Vis Stretch Trousers.

But we’re back at it this week with our industry spotlight article series where we take a look at all the different industries we stock workwear for and look at what may be required from head to toe.

This week we’ll be looking at the Utility industry. So anything to do with the gas, electric and water industry.

Headwear

Starting off with the headwear and in most cases, a helmet will be required. Depending on the job, you may be required to wear a hard hat.

In some cases, a helmet with a visor and ear defenders can help further protect your head, eyes and ears from loud noises, debris or any harmful toxins when working.

But if not, protective glasses and earbuds or defenders can help protect hearing levels if working in a noisy environment.

Bodywear

In some cases, you may be working at heights whether it’s fixing a utility pole, or in colder conditions when working in the water utility industry.

When this is the case wearing sweatshirts, thermal wear or fleeced jackets can help keep the body warm so that you’re able to carry out your job and remain comfortable.

Gloves may be an option but could restrict your movements when working.

Legwear

Similar to bodywear in that comfort and warmth is key when working in difficult conditions.

Therefore thermal legwear along with a good pair of work trousers will be good to help keep you warm and allow for numerous pockets, holes and features for tools, personal belongings and more.

Whether you opt-in for high vis trousers or a high vis vest, we would advise you to do so and it may even be required as part of the job to help you stand out from members of public and be clear to see to oncoming traffic, pedestrians and more.

Footwear

A good pair of safety boots are advised to help protect the feet from falling debris, footwear with a steel cap toe would be even better.

But having a comfortable pair of work shoes is important for on the job activities and ones with good grip for when climbing ladders or utility poles.
