Industry Spotlight - Horticulture

As always we’re continuing with our popular blog series where we highlight all of the industries we stock workwear for.

This week, we’re looking at Horticulture, everything and anything to do with gardening!

We’ll be taking a look at the suggested clothing for horticulture from head to toe.

Headwear

Starting with headwear and depending on the type of equipment being used, you may want to wear a helmet, safety glasses and ear defenders.

For example, if you’re strimming gardens all day, you may want ear protection as well as face protection in case the strimmer kicks anything back up such as stones and litter.

Or having a helmet with a face shield can help you keep your face protected at all times, whether you’re strimming, mowing or using chemicals for plants and weeds.

Bodywear

Standard clothing should be worn such as t-shirts and sweatshirts. Depending on the time of year, you may want extra layers either underneath such as base-layers or over the top such as fleeces and bodywarmers.

Again depending on the type of project and time of day, high-viz clothing may be needed to be clearly seen by co-workers and members of the public.

Legwear

Work trousers should be worn for their durability and practicality reasons. With many pockets, zips, loops they’re a great choice for a gardener with many tools!

Not only that but they’re much more rugged than normal trousers and can withstand being worn over and over again!

Knee pads are also a good option for those who are constantly kneeling down to help protect the knees and give padding between the leg and the ground.

Footwear

Finally, a good pair of work boots are a great option to help prevent any equipment from damaging the feet. Furthermore, work boots offer superior grip so you can always be sure to stay on your feet when doing the job.
